Description

To encourage the girls to become more familiar with the sustainable development goals and how global justice issues are connected. Suitable for Brownie, Guides and Senior Branch.

Resources

 Individual prints of the 17 SDGS
 phone/ speaker for music
 timer/ watch
 String/ wool (optional)

Instructions

1. Leaders should lay out the 17 prepared SDGS on the floor across the room.
2. Play music and ask the girls to move around the room.
3. Press pause on the music. When the music stops girls should stop at the SDG closest to them (members can be moved to make group sizes more even if needed).
a. Girls should be given 2-3 minutes to discuss the SDG they’re standing at, discuss whether they’re familiar with it, what each of their understanding of it is, does it affect them?
b. Continue for a few rounds
c. Next level: Ask a few groups to share their discussion aloud with the rest of the group, ask each group who spoke can they identify a link between their SDGS and how they might affect one another?
4. Optional use wool/ string and give to each participant as them to hold onto the string and unravel and pass to someone else who their chosen SDG connects with, this will eventually make an interconnected web showing how all these issues relate to one another.
5. Closing Group discussion: What is one new thing you learned? Are the SDGs more connected than you thought?
