Description

Theme: Easter & St George's Day - discussed beforehand.

Beaver's have to work in groups to compete challenges. Each completed challenge will earn them 1 plastic egg for their team, with a hidden word inside as a clue to the location of the Easter treats.

Resources

Word 'clues' written on paper, which make a sentence
Refillable plastic easter eggs
Baskets
Treats (in line with allergies)
Pre-cut shield templates, crayons/pens, stickers
Compasses
Printed maps with symbols (laminated can be re-used)
Printed spot-the-difference pages
Bamboo wooden spoons
Hoops/markers

Instructions

Chose a good location to place the Easter treats.

Create word 'clues' which can be put together to make a sentence which will give the location of the Easter treats.

Get a leader and some helpers to come up 15 minutes before the session starts and set up activities.

Discuss history of Easter & St George's Day.

Challenges:
- Create a paper shield (St George theme)
- Compass - find north
- Map - marking landmarks on a map, e.g. church or castle
- Spot the difference - camping version
- Egg and spoon race, using the plastic eggs

Split them into 2 groups and send the group of Beaver's around the area with a leader to try and complete all of the challenges, when they have been and found all of them, they need to come together and work out the sentence for the Easter treat location.
