• Clean, empty egg cartons (6-count)
• Ping pong balls (enough to fill several egg cartons)
• Braille alphabet reference sheet
• Letter Grid
• Pens
Instructions
1. Learn the Braille Alphabet:
- Start by reviewing the Braille alphabet.
- Explain that each letter has a unique combination of raised dots.
2. Create Letters:
- Give each Cub/Scout an egg carton and a set of ping pong balls.
- Using the Braille reference sheet, ask them to place the marked balls in the correct spots to form different letters.
3. Spell Words:
- Challenge Cubs/Scouts to spell their names or simple words by colouring in the grids
- Have them read each other’s words by feeling the arrangement of balls.
