Description

A non cook cookery activity that amuses the Beavers.

Resources

Green or jungle print paper plates.
Easy peel small oranges. 1 per Beaver. Have some spares as some segments are fatter than others.
Bananas, depending on size 1 x 3 Beavers.
A carton of Blueberries.
Small tubes of writting icing 1 per group of Beavers.
Scotch pancake as they are known upt north, 1 per Beaver available in all supermarkets
Pencil with the bottom end wiped clean.
Marker pens/felt tips to name the plates clearly.
Blunt knives or plastic knives.

Instructions

Beavers name the paper plate with their name on the top rim so it is visible without having to look under the plate when taking them home.
Beaver places a scotch pancake in the centre of their plate.
They then peel the easy peel small orange and arrange the segments around the scotch pancake to make the mane of the lion. Some spare oranges may be needed if segments are fat to complete the mane.
Have the Beavers peel the bananas and cut them into discs. 3 discs of banana per Beaver.
Get the beavers to make an indentation in the circles of the banana with the blunt end of a clean pencil and place the 2 banana discs where the lions eyes would be.
Beavers then take a 3rd disc of banana and cut it in half, they then place the 2 halves of the banana under the eyes where the nose would be in in an inverted V shape. Have the Beavers make another indentation between the 2 halves of banana into the scotch pancake with the pencil end.
Get Beavers to draw an upside down Y with the small icing tubes under the lions nose.
Finally Beavers place a blueberry in the dents in the banana eyes and in the dent in the scotch pancake between the bananas.
