Story Creation

Description
Squirrels will split into small groups to create their own short plays. They have been asked to attend the session wearing a costume of their choice, or simply an accessory or having brought a prop.
Squirrels will then perform their plays to the drey in the next activity.
Resources
- Paper and pencils for script writing
- Space to perform
Instructions
1. Divide the Squirrels into small groups of 3-4.
2. Each group chooses a theme or story idea for their play; they may like to base this on the costumes/props they have come in/with. Provide examples like "a bear going on an adventure" or "a lost treasure."
3. Allow the groups 10 minutes to brainstorm their stories and characters.
4. After brainstorming, give them 15 minutes to create a simple script, encouraging them to think about their characters' names, what they will say, and actions they can perform. Adults will likely have to support the creative process and help with writing it down.
5. Circulate among the groups to offer guidance and support.
