● Paper plates (at least 1 each)

● Colouring pens/pencils
● Scissors
● Hoops

● Other items for obstacles

Instructions

Visit from someone’s pet snake (and a parent) (20-30mins)
Prep
Warn parents there will be a snake and the opportunity to hold/touch it if they want (check with owner first).

● Parent and/or YP to explain how to care for the snake, what they needed to do and be aware of when they decided to own a pet snake.
● Chance to hold/touch the snake (if parent-owner agrees).
● YPs to go up to hold/touch Boaz one at a time, the rest sit in their sixes so not a lot of movement/chaos.
● Take individual photos that could be shared with parents (take photos of everyone who held snake and shared with parents individually after checking no one was accidentally caught in the background).
● WASH HANDS.
● Parent to take the snake home.

Read out story

Run to the other end of the Hut when “Jade Emperor” is mentioned.



Zodiac mask
Look up what zodiac animal everyone is.
Make a zodiac mask out of a paper plate - make this year’s animal or their zodiac animal.

Games
Snake Slither Relay
Prep
Set up an obstacle course.
Description
YPs hold onto each other through the course. If they break the snake that’s the end of the course for them - mark their progress with a cone for the other teams to try to beat, or for them to beat themselves on their next turn.


Catch the Snake ́s Tail”
1. Get all the children to stand in a line behind each other with their hands on one another’s shoulders.
2. The first person in line is the head of the snake, and the last is the tail
3. The head tries to catch the tail by manoeuvring the line around so that they can tag the end player. The line must not break
4. All the other players do their best to keep the head from catching the snake’s tail
5. When the head catches the tail, the head player becomes the new tail

Note: If you have a large group it may be best to split it into more than one snake
