Orienteering around the Raha KCC campus.

This Orienteering Challenge Worksheet is designed to guide scouts through a structured outdoor navigation activity around the school campus. It includes six checkpoints, each with a unique challenge that reinforces key orienteering skills such as using a compass, estimating distances, and problem-solving. The tasks vary from taking bearings to identifying objects by touch, solving riddles, and making accurate step estimations. Scouts will document their answers as they progress, ensuring an interactive and engaging experience. The worksheet also includes bonus challenges to encourage accuracy and teamwork. At the end of the activity, scouts will return to the starting point to review their answers with the leader.

Instructions

Preparation:

- Print and distribute the Orienteering Challenge Worksheet
- Place checkpoint markers and any required props (e.g., mystery box, riddle cards) at the designated locations.

Briefing (5 min):

- Explain the objective: Teams must navigate using a map and compass, completing tasks at each checkpoint.
- Review basic compass skills if needed.

Challenge Execution (20 min):

- Teams navigate through the six checkpoints in order.
- Leaders at designated checkpoints if needed to supervise challenges, provide hints if needed, and track bonus points.

Wrap-Up (5 min):

- Teams return to the starting point.
- Leaders check answers and announce any winners or top-performing teams.
