Microwave Calzone (in a mug)
Report Copyright Infringement View in OSM UK
Description
Very popular with our Beavers. Combines Some of the International Badge (which we usually complete over 2 sessions) and the Cook Badge.
Split into manageable groups (i.e. Lodges)
Adding on Kitchen Hazards (Search OSM as this is already uploaded by others) and talk about basic hygiene within the groups covers more of the Cook Badge too.
Resources
Beavers to bring Microwave safe mugs, aprons and a spoon.
Access to microwaves (more than one if possible)
• 8 tablespoons all purpose flour
• ¼ teaspoon baking powder
• ⅛ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• 6 tablespoons milk (or milk alternative if preferred)
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 3-4 tablespoons tomato sauce
• 4-5 tablespoons finely grated mozzarella cheese
• ¼ teaspoon dry Italian seasoning
• Parsley for garnish (optional)
• 2 min 30 second cook time
Don't forget anti-bac spray and cloths.
Instructions
• In a microwave safe mug combine your flour, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder, and salt.
• Once dry ingredients are combined add in the milk and oil and mix thoroughly until you have a smooth batter (if there are a few lumps, not to worry).
• In the centre of the batter drop a spoonful of your tomato sauce, cheese, Italian seasonings and pepperoni. Pull the batter over the centre to hide the calzone filling underneath the batter.
• Microwave for 1 minute and 50 seconds to 2 minutes and 10 seconds or until the top of the calzone is risen and firm to the touch (timing is based on my 1200W microwave so your timing might vary) Garnish with parsley and tomato sauce if you’d like. Enjoy straight away!
