Description

In their sixes, Cubs are challenged to use a thesaurus to replace words in a sentence or paragraph.

Each six has the same starting sentence, and when finished they share their new sentences with the Pack to see how different they all are.

Instructions

Present the pack with a descriptive sentence or simple paragraph (for example: The nice green cat took a long walk through the dark forest) and set them the challenge in their sixes to use a thesaurus to replace words and make a new sentence with the same overall meaning.

Give them 5 minutes to work together.

One at a time, each six reads out their new sentences, showing how a thesaurus can help make your writing more interesting or exciting by sharing alternative words.

(Example: The lovely verdant kitty took a lengthy wander through the gloomy thicket.)
