Hot water in flask
Warm Water in flask
Cold Water in Bottle
selection of pop top bottles (fruit shoot, water etc)
Selection of jars or mugs where the top of the bottle will fit in the base of the jar/mug
Alka Seltzer/Barocca/Disperable paracetamol x 2 boxes ADULT SUPERVISION REQUIRED FOR EACH LODGE

You will need the above for all Beaver Lodges

Instructions

Adult Leader of the Lodge will show a simple experiment using cold water and 1 tablet, fill bottle with water, add tablet, place bottle top down into jar and wait. The chemical reaction of the bicarbonate in the water produces gas which forces the bottle lid off shooting the bottle into the air.

Beavers then take it in turns with different size bottles, different temperature water and different jars/mugs.

Adult helper encourage them to make a note of the things used and find out which combination made the rockets go highest.
